How We Started
Deepwell began in late 2018 when three former commercial vessel operators decided to leave the cargo industry and focus on slower, more intentional maritime work. We had all spent years moving freight between ports across Southeast Asia — efficient schedules, tight margins, and very little time to notice the places we passed through.
The shift came after a conversation at a marina in Kuah, where we realised we had collectively spent over forty years at sea but rarely enjoyed it. We wanted to create something that allowed both us and our guests to experience the water at a different pace. Langkawi, with its protected bays and proximity to Thai marine parks, seemed like the right place to do it.
We started with one pontoon vessel and a simple idea: offer charters that prioritised quality of time over quantity of activities. No packed itineraries, no rush between stops. Just well-maintained boats, experienced crew, and routes designed to let people slow down.
Our Mission
We arrange maritime experiences for people who value careful planning over impulsive adventure. Each charter is designed with attention to comfort, safety, and the specific rhythm of the Andaman coast. Our vessels are smaller than those operated by resort-based providers, which allows us to access quieter anchorages and adjust routes based on conditions and guest preferences.
We believe that spending a full day on the water should not feel like a list of tasks to complete. It should feel like time well spent — reading on deck while the boat drifts, watching the crew prepare a meal, or simply sitting in silence as the sun sets behind the headlands.
The Team
Small crew, deep experience
Hafiz Kamal

Nor Azizah
Guest Services
Handles bookings, guest communication, and dietary arrangements. Ensures all charter details are confirmed and understood before departure.
Our Standards
Maritime safety and guest comfort are not competing priorities. Both require careful attention.
Malaysian Maritime Compliance
All vessels hold current Malaysian Marine Department certifications. Skippers maintain Master's or Yachtmaster licenses with regular renewals. Safety equipment inspections are conducted quarterly.
Safety Protocol
Each departure includes a safety briefing covering life jacket locations, emergency procedures, and communication equipment. All crew members are trained in first aid and emergency response.
Vessel Maintenance
Engines are serviced every 200 operating hours. Hull inspections and antifouling are done annually. Navigation and communication systems are tested before each charter departure.
Insurance Coverage
Comprehensive marine insurance covers passenger liability, vessel damage, and third-party incidents. Thai waters crossings are covered under extended Southeast Asian maritime policies.
Why We Do This
After years of rushing between destinations, we wanted to create a maritime service that did the opposite. One where the journey itself was the purpose, not just the means to reach a dive site or photo opportunity.
The Andaman coast has dozens of charter operators offering similar routes. What makes our approach different is the pacing. We build extra time into every itinerary — time for the boat to drift while guests swim, time for the chef to prepare food properly, time to change the route if weather shifts or a particular bay looks interesting.
This is not the right fit for everyone. Some guests prefer packed schedules with multiple activities per day. We tend to attract people who are comfortable with slower rhythms and who trust the crew to make good decisions about where to go and when to anchor.
We have been operating from Pantai Cenang since early 2019. The fleet has grown from one pontoon to three vessels of different sizes. The core approach has not changed — careful planning, experienced crew, and routes that allow people to actually relax.
